- 2022 STLP State Championship from Rupp Arena.
- There are 60,000 KY K-12 students that are part of STLP. Nearly 10,000 students, educators, volunteers, community members and parents are expected. The State Championship is almost entirely run by volunteers from across Kentucky; including the dozens of students that comprise the STLP Student Service Corps.
- Today is the largest event ever held Lexington Central Bank Center. The first event to use every part of this new facility.
- This is the 28th year of STLP that began in 1994.
- 15th year of the STLP State Championship.
- Over 400 STLP Projects will be on display in Central Bank Center’s Exhibit Hall; each striving to be selected as a Best in State winner.
- Meanwhile, over 600 Digital Product semi-finalists (narrowed down from thousands of entries) will be scored to find the 1st and 2nd place winners for each of 23 different STEAM related categories.
- There are also 18 on-site live Challenge competitions that challenge students to demonstrate specific technology skills on demand.
- With more than 400 schools from over 100 districts registered to participate, today’s event is open to the public starting at 10:00 AM (EST).
- Winners in the Digital Product categories will be recognized and displayed during a Digital Award Show starting at 1pm inside Rupp and broadcast live through https://KET.org/live .
- Later in the day, Challenge and Project team winners are recognized during the STLP Award Show held at 5:00 PM from the floor of Rupp Arena.
- The 5:00 PM STLP Award Show will be broadcast live on KET’s Kentucky Channel, as well as broadcast live through https://KET.org/live .
- For the very first time, the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) and the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC) will have their board meeting at the STLP state championship and will observe the environment and competitions.
