- Welcome to school year 2022-2023 that most of you have already started.
- Want to reflect on and discuss KY K-12 EdTech related actions/activities (e.g., Internet service used in the district office/school buildings, computers/devices used in the district’s school buildings, KY K-12 EdTech cloud-based services accessed from the district’s school buildings, etc.) going forward related districts in Eastern KY impacted by the historic flash floods.
- Results of the August KBE board meeting (i.e., KY K-12 EdTech funding now and future, full-time remote and virtual instruction, KETS offers). Next steps for both those items.
- Major RFPs in the works impacting KY K-12 technology enabled services: KY K-12 Internet service, next generation SEEK.
- KY K-12 Data systems update.
- Annual KY K-12 Cybersercurity Healthcheck due to your Supt and local board, NLT 31 August 2022.
- Stilwell Award update. The Stilwell Meritorious Service Medal coins arrived at KDE in Frankfort on 22 August. The next step is to distribute these 2400 coins to the appropriate staff in districts and KDE. Our Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) member Lee Todd announced these 2400 coins and why folks were getting them during the “Good News” portion of the KBE board meeting on August 3rd. It was fitting that Lee Todd made this announcement since he has been a long time champion for the Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS) and our student technology leadership program (STLP), beginning during his time as an entrepreneur and CEO of a technology company in the 1990s, then later as college president of the University or Kentucky for 10 years from 2001-2011 and now as a KBE member. Similarly, we’d like to help district EdTech staff get recognized at their local board meeting. We’ll discuss some ideas of helping make that happen with you all.
