The eighth annual STLP State Championship was at the Lexington Convention Center and Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky, Tuesday, April 22, 2014. State champions crowned were Elementary school (Mullins in Pike County), Middle School (Jessamine County’s East Middle) and High School (Warren County’s South Warren). They’ll represent KY in Atlanta in late June at the national edtech conference.
Close to 5500 students competed yesterday. Their work is a wonderful example of project based learning in action over a wide range of academic subjects. Nearly all the projects were related to helping their classmates, teachers or community in some way. Another life skill gained during this event is each student has a speaking role during their project presentation/demonstration.
