LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL (LSAC)
Mandated by KRS 156.004, the charge of the council is to “advise the chief state school officer and the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) concerning the development of administrative regulations and education policy. The chief state school officer shall submit all proposed administrative regulations and educational policies for review by the council before seeking approval of the Kentucky Board of Education.”
LSAC is comprised of 11 members appointed by the Legislative Research Commission; seven members represent each of the state Supreme Court districts, and four members serve the state at-large. The council’s meetings usually are held on the Tuesday of the week before each regular KBE meeting.
Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-243 and a memorandum issued by the Finance and Administration Cabinet dated March 16, 2020, and in an effort to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the LSAC will meet utilizing a video teleconference. Members of the public will not be permitted to attend the meeting in person, but are encouraged to view the meeting on the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE) Media Portal.
